How do I list my RV?

The listing process is done entirely online using a computer or mobile device. After registering an account just click the List Your RV link on the top of the page to begin.

You can list one or multiple RVs on your Good Sam RV Rentals profile. The step-by-step listing process will include all relevant information renters need to see when they search for a rental. You will have the ability to add photos and details, as well as control rates.

What kind of RV can I list?

There are no restrictions on the type of RV that an owner can list on the platform. These can include travel trailers, fifth wheels, pop ups, toy haulers, etc. Some RVs may be subject to review based on the current state of the RV. Earning Potential

How much does it cost to list my RV?

Good news! You don’t pay to list your RV with Good Sam RV Rentals. You will be charged a commission fee when a rental is booked. This commission fee covers all of the services like roadside assistance and insurance during the rental.

How much can I earn?

Rental rates are completely up to the owner—it’s your business, and you decide. You can raise or lower rates depending on factors like holidays, weather, seasons, or demand. Your income potential will also depend on how often your RV is available for rent and how responsive you are to renter’s questions and inquiries.

As you decide your rate, remember Good Sam charges a 5% commission fee. This means you make 95% profit on every booking.

When do I get paid for my rental?

As a new owner to Good Sam RV Rentals, payouts are initiated the day after the rental is completed. Once you have conducted a minimum of 2 rentals and $1,000 in revenue, your payouts will then be processed 24 hours after the start of the rental for any future bookings.

Please note that payouts can sometimes take an additional day or two to appear in your bank account depending on your bank's processing schedule, weekends, and holidays.

*Any owner that previously met this criteria before February 2022, will continue to receive their payout 24 hours after the rental starts.

Should I expect to receive a tax form?

Yes, so long as:

  • Your gross payments were over $20,000 and 200 transactions (for 2021 tax year). The filing thresholds at the state level varies and a state form may be required.
  • You receive $600 or more in reportable payments during the year (starting with the 2022 tax year).

When applicable, Good Sam RV Rentals will issue a 1099-K tax form.  Please note that Filer’s name on Form 1099-K will be FreedomRoads Holding Company, LLC.  You should consult your tax advisor on how these amounts should be reported on your tax return.

Your form will be ready by Jan. 31 for the prior tax year and will be mailed to the address on file.

We’ll also notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state jurisdictions (when applicable) of your reportable payments.

If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected]

Rental Bookings

How is my RV insured during a rental period?

As an RV owner, you are covered with up to $1M in liability, as well as comp and collision. This is included, at no cost to you. Renters select their own coverage during the rental period but what they choose does not affect your coverage.

For more insurance information, please check out our Insurance FAQs page.

Can anyone rent my RV?

We want to make sure your RV is in good hands when you start booking reservations. Renters must be at least 25 years old and possess a valid driver's license. A driving background check is required, and renters must be verified by all Good Sam RV Rentals eligibility requirements prior to reservation. These requirements include a valid credit card on file and having a verified email address and phone number on the site. RV owners have the final authority on who rents their equipment.

Can I decide who rents my RV?

At the end of the day, we want owners to feel comfortable with whoever rents their RV. That's why owners have the final word on all rental agreements, including who rents your RV. We encourage communication between the renter and owner during the reservation process to make sure rental expectations are clear before it's time to hand over the keys.

What happens if a renter cancels?

Cancellations initiated by the renter are subject to the terms in the policy details, determined by when a renter cancels. For example, if a renter ever cancels within 7 days of a scheduled reservation, no refund is provided. Our cancellation terms can be found here.

Can I limit how my RV is used?

We want renters to have a great rental experience, but you reserve the right to restrict certain activities. Be up-front and clear with renters about any restrictions associated with your rentals such as attending festivals, tailgating events, allowing pets, or even where a renter is allowed to take it.

Can I control when my RV is available?

We understand your RV will need routine maintenance or you may want to enjoy your RV yourself, so we’ve made it easy for you to show renters when it’s not available. After your RV is listed on our site, you can use the calendar feature to block dates when it is not available, change rates based on seasons, holidays, or events, and even make your listing inactive if your RV will be unavailable for long periods of time.

You can remove your listing at any time. Previous bookings are not automatically canceled when you remove your listing.

Is there a minimum and maximum number of rental days?

Yes, our standard minimum is a 2-day rental (though owners may choose to set this minimum higher) with a maximum of 30 days per rental.  If you are interested in a rental for longer than 30 days, please contact us at [email protected].

What is the process for documenting the start and end of a rental?

Before and after a renter’s trip, you will do a walkthrough with them. Providing renters with a thorough explanation of your RV’s systems and operations is important to help make them comfortable with the process and ensure that you both have a positive experience.

A mobile app for recording and reporting this walkthrough will be available soon. In the meantime, you can use the form provided here Good Sam RV Rentals Forms to document this information. During this walkthrough, note any damage, show them the operation of all RV systems, the fuel levels, and mileage. You and the renter should review this form together. You are both required to sign off on the information.

If there is any reportable damage, please email us photos with the completed and signed forms. Please report any issues within 24 hours of the return of your RV by contacting us at support

Can a renter take my RV to Canada and Mexico?

A renter can take your RV to Canada, but the trip must originate in the U.S. and the rental vehicle must be registered in the United States.

A rental cannot enter Mexico.

Can I use a GPS tracker or similar device when I rent out my RV?

This is subject to state laws about proper disclosure of such a tracking device.

How do we ensure that a renter knows how to tow a trailer properly?

Per the terms of our rental agreement, as the owner, you have the right to cancel a rental if you don't feel confident in the renter's ability to handle your RV. Please contact [email protected]if you have any questions.

Who do I contact if I have problems?

Contact [email protected] with any questions or problems, and we’ll be glad to help get these addressed as quickly as possible.
